I can't believe this is my second-to-last article for the year!  You guys have been reading them for three long years, first as VP and then as president for two years.  Yes, my second term is coming to an end and I can't believe how fast this year has gone by.   I'll save my good-byes and reflections as president for the next CR but it's needless to say that my terms have gone by quickly and it's time for a new victim, ….I mean, lucky person to fill the shoes as prez.   For those who didn't attend the last meeting, you may find your name listed for some sort of office in this month's CR so be sure to attend the next meeting so you can defend yourself.  If anyone has been nominated and is laughing and saying to themselves that there's no way they would get elected for anything, keep in mind that the GGLC reached a pinnacle of ruthlessness a few years ago when we elected poor Joe Dyer to be president.  It all went quite smoothly and he didn't suspect a thing - while he was in the hospital! Nothing is sacred in the GGLC.
I can't say I have anything new to report on the cars, they have sat since the track day but I see some time soon when I can get back to work on them.  I have plenty of winter projects to do, namely to get that disk conversion on the rear of the Europa and of course, to finish the Seven.  That's seems to be a terminal project but we won't get into that right now.  At least I'm happy to report that the shocks and tires seem to be working well on the Europa, based on how the car behaved on the track.  I've had those Pirelli P6's since just after we bought the car and it was amazing to see what new tire technology can do for an older car.  The Toyo Proxes RA-1's that I put on broke away very cleanly out on the track, I just hope they last! I definitely waited too long to do that and I won't make the same mistake twice.  I bought a set of Kumho's for the Seven but haven't had a chance
to even put them on the car yet.  The plan was to have them for the track day but there just weren't enough hours in the days to get the car track-ready.  It's one thing to get a car rolling to drive on the street but it's another thing for the car to be able to handle the abuse from a day of flogging.
Not much is going on during the month of November as far as the club goes, but remember to mark your calendars for the Toddler Rallye at the beginning of December.  Also, note that we have changed the date of the Christmas party because of circumstances beyond our control.
One final note that might be of interest to you fellow Lotus fanatics, I've been in the middle of changing jobs and I haven't had a chance to keep up with the latest Lotus news until recently.  While I was in the middle of deleting some of the many emails I get between the Lotus list and the Sevens mailing list, I came across a website that had some pics of the new Elise II (www.pistonheads.com).
Do some surfing and check it out. It appears they've tried to cross some elements of the 340R and M250 with the existing Elise.  I won't get into whether it's coming to the states or not since that seems to be an eternal debate, I'll leave that for the listers to argue.  But if it is, it's the only new car I'd run out and slap some money down on.  I said the same thing about the first Elise and my biased opinion about it being a great car was confirmed when I drove one.  I see no reason to doubt Lotus on the second generation Elise either.  It's just that nagging money issue that always seems to get in the way.
Remember the GGLC motto in November, "vote early and vote often" and I'll see you at the next meeting!
