need to spread information out to people who don't need to know, either.

Since John Z. is our Social Director/Events Chairman again, we can be sure to have many exciting events this year (especially track days with four already set up!).  And with our new officer position of UK Liaison, Mike Causer is responsible for setting up an affordable event for us in the UK.   The rumor is he was going to have Lotus shut down for a day and let us have free run of the factory, track, and cars for testing purposes.  Now that would be a great Christmas present!  Can someone please email him and let him know?  On a more serious note, as I'm writing this we're preparing for the GGLG Holiday Party this coming Saturday the 15th.  You will probably receive this issue of the Chapman Report after the party, but we will be discussing plans, meeting locations, and future events at the monthly meeting which we are incorporating into the party.  We will probably decide on the January 18, 2001 meeting location then.   Last year Tom and Cherie Carney hosted the meeting, then many of us went together the following Saturday morning to the San Mateo Expo Center (fair grounds) to the see the Roadster Show, which was a treat to see.  Mostly hot rods and muscle cars, and no Lotuses, but all kinds of stuff any car nut loves to see.  I'm thinking we may do something similar this year.  We'll discuss it the upcoming party/meeting, so keep you eye on the website for updated information.

HAVE A HAPPY, SAFE, AND JOYOUS HOLIDAY SEASON!!

Victor

Last month I was shocked to be re-elected as President, even though I was there to influence the vote as much as possible.  I thought a year of irresponsible and reckless activity would be enough to ensure my defeat in the election, but I was wrong.  I should have known better since it seems our elected officials' public approval rating seem to go up with each new scandal…..  All kidding aside, I'm looking forward to another year with this great club.  We have a great slate of officers.  Some new officers this year include Jim McClure as Vice President and Pete Richen as Secretary.  Many of the other officers remain the same as last year since such a good job was done by all, with a record number of track events since I've been a member, and many more track days scheduled already for 2002!  Thanks to all for such a great year last year, and here's to another one in 2002!   We plan to have as many or more fun events this coming year.

And we've been thinking of ways to get other members more involved.  I'd like to encourage all of you to submit a write-up for the Chapman report.  With so many members, we have hundreds of great stories, experiences, etc. bottled up in the club that I would like to see published here for all to enjoy.  They can be serious or humorous, fiction or nonfiction, or whatever you'd like to write.  As an incentive, those who send in any writing of at least 3 or 4 hundred words, will receive a $25.00 discount on an upcoming track day.  If we get too many submissions for any single Chapman Report, we will spread them out, but the more the better!

Along those same lines, we are encouraging you members to come up with and/or host any events you may think of.  Let John Z. or me know your ideas, and as an incentive, the club will either help defray any costs related to hosting such an event, or give the host some benefit such as a track day discount for hosting and/or planning a new event.  So put your thinking caps on and lets come up with some ideas, since the wet season is here, and we have time to plan these types of things and to get our cars repaired and ready for spring!

On a serious note, I'd like to ask the membership of our club to be very careful in disseminating any personal information about our fellow members.  I have noticed some suspicious and/or annoying things this past year (ask me if you want specifics), but the reality is that we need to work together to protect our cars, our personal privacy, and ourselves more than ever.  Any personal information about our fellow members and officers should be respected, and I'm asking you to be suspicious of strangers and people you don't know well, perhaps brand new members, asking suspicious/personal questions about the personal matters of our members.   We don't need to be paranoid, but we don't
