out
incident. After some awesome roads, we headed back, and grouped up
in the parking lot at 280 and Woodside Road. After hanging around
many minutes for everyone to regroup, a CHP cruised in. What follows
in interesting, and I think is was a form of entrapment. He undoubtedly
was alerted by some dork with a cell phone on 280. He acted really
cool, asking how fast the cars went, and being very friendly and cordial,
he joked that he couldn't catch us anyway in those cars, and finally he
stated, "…try to keep it under 100…" as he cruised out of the parking lot.
He then headed south on 280. As we left and headed north, we all
jammed up 280, then took 92 east, and then met up to watch the Gumball
Rally 2000 video tape. One of us in a 'regular' car lagging behind
noticed that the CHP had headed south, then turned around to follow up
going north on 280. Luckily, he was so far behind that he didn't
see us exit at 92, and he raced past, but the guy was obviously trying
to egg us on to speed, so he could catch us later. I'm glad he wasted
his time, as his 'trickery' was unappreciated! The moral to the story
is, beware of cops acting cool about fast cars! They just want to
bust a fast car!
Hope
to see you all at the Meeting and/or the Sierra Foothills Run!
