GGLC/Club111 Practice Autocross
August 27, 2005 - Marina Airport
By Kiyoshi Hamai

Like the School we shared the date with Club111 and the Lockheed Martin Sports Car Club. The synergy of working with these two clubs is perfect, Lockheed has a number of AutoX enthusiasts to help with getting sufficient entry to cover costs and has autocross equipment that the GGLC does not have. The GGLC's part is to administrate the event and take on the financial risk.

32 drivers participated in the event with 17 coming from the GGLC. Elise participation was a very encouraging 14 drivers (2 with S1 Elise). The Elise BEGS to be driven and for 11 of the 14 it is their first Lotus. Let's just say it was a "Cool-Aid" drinking day!

Thanks go to Larry Bisares for arranging the day and from Lockheed Martin SCC, Stuart Calhoon for getting the equipment to the site.

Top Time of Day

TTOD went to Michael S, but Michael had to work to capture the title as he received some serious competition from Alexander K and a Lockheed driver, Rich, in his modified Chevy Monza. It was Michael who started things off with by putting down a 43.893 on his second run. The course seem to slow in the 2nd session but almost out of nowhere Alexander found a new line and ripped off a 42.792 on his base suspended Elise to take TTOD away from Rich by 0.005 seconds! The 3rd and final session was set to be shoot-out. Michael dipped into the 42s on his 14th run, but still 0.2 sec off the pace set by Alexander and Rich. On Alexander's 15th run he drew the line with an amazing 42.527! On Rich's final run he nearly unseated Alexander with a 42.569, only 0.042 off Alexander. As the runs wound down it looked as if Alexander's TTOD time would hold, but then on Michael's final run he re-focused and with his Sport Pack optioned Elise sealed the deal with a 42.383, knocking 0.144 sec off Alexander's time to grab TTOD!
