GGLC/Club111 Practice Autocross
May 13, 2006 - Marina Airport
By David Anderson

The weather was quite good and everyone had a nice time, but there were some minor equipment difficulties getting started. Thanks to Larry Bisares for organizing this event (and the entire autocross season).

Larry brought sticky-buns, bagels and coffee so though it was a bit chilly before 8 AM folks were hard at work prepping the course (and drinking coffee).

Runs commenced at 10AM (an hour behind schedule).

The track was long and times were typically close to 60 seconds per run (though the fastest driver or two got into the 49's). The track was well-suited to multiple-cars-on-course as even with 2-3 on course at once they were widely separated.

The lunch provided (part of your registration fee) was nice: sandwich (nicely made and fresh), corn chips, cookie, and a Coke.

During the lunch break Larry and a few helpers added a few cones at key places to better define the course and in the afternoon almost no-one had DNF problems. Most everyone was able concentrate fully on driving.

The various folks I talked to were very relaxed about the difficulties, commenting it was just a practice anyway, so no big deal.

We wrapped up the last run at 4:30 PM and within a very few minutes the cones were picked up and the area clear.
