Europa is ready to go if I don't get the Elan ready.  I haven't driven it since the last Mt. Hamilton run last fall that Mike Schlicht hosted.  We'll have some more runs like that this year also.  Anyone willing to host such a run, please contact me and we'll get a fun group together.  I'm putting a roll bar in the Elan since most tracks now require that on open cars.   The roll bar is so heavy, and I feel bad putting such a heavy piece on the car, but I guess it's good in the name of safety.
My Formula Mazda is at Sears Point and ready to go, but I haven't driven it in a couple years, so I'm going to warm up by driving sports cars on the track a few times before racing the FM again.
That's it for now, so get to work on your cars!  It's just a couple of months until our track day, and make sure to sign up fast since we are limiting the number of cars to 40.

Here is my first article, since Scott passed this unexpected presidency onto me in the last meeting!   I thought I was just going to feast on Cherie Carney's great hors d'oeuvres', but I left with more than I bargained for….but hey, I like the presidential uniform!  I can use it to play gladiator……   It just goes to show that you never know what you might get at our monthly meetings and thanks Tom and Cherie for the great treatment!  I'm looking forward to a great year of fun Lotus events.  As you'll read soon, we already have a track day set up!  Thanks John Z., for making this happen so fast!  It is interesting that our track day will be Friday the 13th , aka Good Friday, so that can mean many things to you superstitious types out there.  More exiting news is that our May meeting will be held at Fantasy Junction in Emeryville.  Thanks Jon Rosner for setting that up

I'm working as hard as I can to get my '70 Elan ready for a track day.  It is one of those NASA track days that are usually pretty fun, if a little bit crowded.  I have several buddies going also, and I want to show them what an old Lotus can do to their new cars!  One of them is bringing his new Ferrari 355 and two others are bringing Porsches, including one brand new Carrera.  Those are all good cars, but they are basically roadblocks for our Lotuses!  I bought this Elan about 5 years ago and I've only driven it a couple hundred miles, so it had been sitting around too much, and it was in pretty rough shape when I bought it.  Plus it got the honor of sitting in water for a month or two a few years back when El Nino was flooding the warehouse where it was stored.   And as it always turns out, I've been finding so many things wrong that I'm not sure I will get it done in time.  Oh well, my
