Annual GGLC “Anti-Football” Drive (24-Jan-2015)

START:9:15am at Starbucks – 325 Sharon Park Dr, Menlo Park, CA 94025

MEET TIME: 9:15-9:45

DRIVE: The Annual Anti-Football Drive is Saturday January 24 and returns to the Peninsula. This is a casual moderate paced drive. The road conditions are always iffy at this time of the year so the pace will take into consideration the recent and then current weather.

CRABS & LUNCH: We have lunch at Pillar Point Harbor. You can purchase Crab and Fish right from the boats! If you want to buy fish and/or crab bring a small ice cooler or similar waterproof container and ice packs to keep your purchase cool. The boats will bag your purchase, but crabs have sharp claws and will pierce plastic bags, thus you need something watertight. But, having fresh fish and/or crab is amazing!

AFTER LUNCH: We will drive back to San Carlos and the Hiller Aviation Museum for a 2pm tour.

IMPORTANT! Please RSVP! Space is limited on the tour. Non-members are welcome, but GGLC members will have priority. To RSVP send an email with the number in your party webguy”at”gglotus.org

The drive is about 1 hour long and will be at a moderate pace run with respect to iffy road conditions from winter weather. The GGLC will pay for the Museum tour, but lunch and any fish/crab purchase is no host.

WEATHER – We’ll do this rain or shine!

Fall 2013 Sierra Foothills Tour! (19-20 Oct)

An overnight event in the Sierra foothills! We will start with an open house at Dave Bean Engineering in San Andreas on Saturday morning. Then it’s off to lunch the Pickle Patch deli. Just Saturday or Just Sunday
You don’t have to do both days. You can join the tour on either Saturday or just Sunday.

If you want to do only Saturday, just meet the group at Dave Bean Engineering in San Andreas and then depart after arriving in Volcano.

Those joining the event on Sunday may meet overnighters for breakfast in Volcano on Sunday morning. After breakfast and some sightseeing in Volcano we’ll drive on some lightly traveled and scenic roads between Volcano and Somerset/Fair Play. In Somerset/Fair Play the group will visit one or two wineries with lunch at one of the wineries. Somerset/Fair Play/Plymouth is roughly an hour’s drive from Sacramento or about a three hour drive for those returning to the Bay area.

The event is designed so you can participate in both days or either Saturday or Sunday. RSVP is needed in all cases.

North Bay Run & BBQ (Sept 25)

Back by popular demand, your hosts Greg Tatarian and John Kenner invite owners of new and classic Lotus cars to join us for a tour of some of our Sonoma County back roads, followed by a BBQ at John Kenner’s spread in Sebastopol.

We will meet at 0930 at Sonoma Valley Bagel & Café, located at 350 Rohnert Park Expressway West, Rohnert Park, and depart at 1000. Fill your tank before the start – plenty of stations are nearby. For those members who miss the start, or are coming from further south, we will have a scheduled stop at the Marin French Cheese Co., AKA Cheese Factory, AKA Rouge et Noir, located at 7500 Red Hill Road., Petaluma CA 95952 – 707-762-6001, at around 1045 where we’ll stop for about 15 minutes before continuing on our route to John Kenner’s place. After lunch, return home via Hwy 101, just 10 miles east, or another interesting route home! Total drive time with one stop will be about 2.5 hours, so we’ll end up at John Kenner’s place at about 12:30.

Greg Tatarian (1971 S4 DHC) designed the route and will lead the drive. After a few comments from last year, we’ll take it a bit easier – some of our cars are a little low or stiff for some of the road surfaces. We are also considering splitting into two groups – faster and not as fast. You can email Greg for the announcement flyer as well as the map and directions or download a multi-page PDF directions and event flyer from his website at:

John Kenner’s address is: 5190 Vine Hill Road, Sebastopol. John will be serving excellent BBQ’d marinated chicken, pork loin, potato salad and fresh vegetables from his garden at about 1 pm. Bread, desert, and beverages are potluck. If you don’t eat chicken, bring something else. A refrigerator will be available. Check out John’s Triumph and Lotus projects while you eat!

GGLC Meeting, Drive & BBQ (19-June-10)

We all know how difficult it is to get to the East Bay for a club meeting on a Friday night, so for June the club meeting will be Saturday, June 19, in Danville with the extra added attractions of Mel’s fabulous BBQ and an optional fun run to Danville from Santana Row. The fun run will start around 10 AM, and the BBQ will begin around 1 PM (and who knows when the meeting will begin!). A contribution of a salad or dessert for the BBQ would be nice, but is not required. RSVP for the BBQ is required. Email for RSVP, address, questions, etc…

When: 19th-June-2010, 10 am (drive), 1pm (BBQ)
Where: Meet at Santana Row for the drive or directly come to the BBQ at Mel and Darlene’ place (Danville, CA)

Saturday Drive Update

Update on the Saturday drive before the BBQ and Open House at Dietsch Werks. We are expecting some rain tomorrow (Friday), but it’s supposed to blow out of here and Saturday will be awesome!

We have a nice route with twisties planned (map below). It will be nice drive taken at a conservative pace. With all the rain the roads maybe slick with run off and we want a fun safe tour. The drive will be led by Kiyoshi (Magnetic Blue Elise) and will be starting from Santana Row at 10 am.
